Special to the AV News

Welcome to another season of Men’s golf at Alberni Golf Club!

The season started off this past Sunday with 45 golfers teeing it up for the four-man, computer-chosen scramble.

In first place with a score of 61 was the team of Josh Harvey, Rob Larson, Cliff O’Laney and Cal Davies. Second was the foursome of Mike Savard, Ron Scholte, Wayne Johnstone and Tylo Smith with 62. Next was the threesome of Corey Nielson, Bruce MacDonald and Steve Pointon with 63.

Following with 65 were Bill Barrett, Chris Bird, Dennis Frykas and Jim Rhodes. In fifth place was the foursome of Justin Sketsch, Hank Krahn, Bob Matlock and Dave Mann, also coming in with 65. The sixth and final prize went to the group of Fred Fredrickson, Wayne Cheveldave and Jason Pley with 66. All ties were settled by retrogression.

Many thanks go out to the King Edward Liquor Store for their generous contribution to this event.

Next Sunday being Easter, it will be an open day. Book your own tee time in your own group starting at 8 a.m. and going until 10 a.m. The event of the day will be best gross and best net: every man for himself. The cost for the day will be $15, which includes prizes, charity closest to the pin and the money pot.

Don’t forget to fill the score cards out completely, including your last name, handicap, total net and gross. Exchange cards with one of your playing partners. Each player is responsible for turning in their own card, make sure you check the addition before turning it in.

Happy Easter, everyone.
